All we need is....Health

There is a lesson, a powerful lesson that I am learning as each year and birthday passes, a lesson that we all know, but I think take for granted. The Lesson? That we can have all the money in the world, all the love in the world, everything we want in the world in fact - but if we don't have our health, we have nothing. No-thing. I had a list a mile long of To Do's last week, but was struck down with one of the worst flu’s - + chest infection & sinusitis - I’ve had in years which put me out of action for a solid week. In Anna time, that means light years. There is nothing like a bout of sickness however to slap a fresh perspective across your face which is exactly what has happened with me. I consider myself relatively healthy. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, exercise more than 4 times a week, drink 4L+ of water a day, and get to yoga once a week, so how can I and how did I get so sick? I believe because I am not valuing mind, body and spirit as a whole. Unfortunately, I don’t always listen to my body. It's great to look after yourself on the surface, but what's going on in your mind and internally is just as important to be taking extra good care of. It's a whole package. I have decided I need to start taking even better care of myself, actually listening to what my body is trying to tell me. Health & Vitality is my number one value, because without that, I have nothing else, I can't be who I want to be or do what I want to do. With that in mind, I thought the week ahead I would focus on all things for the mind, body & spirit - share some healthy recipes I've started using, put up some amazing inspirational quotes for the mind, look at the regrets of the dying (so we can learn from those who have been there before us) and share some great tips for taking care of your body. So here's to a week of health, & revitalising our bodies, minds and spirits.

  1. Yes, absolutely. I rarely stop to listen to my body and usually push through only to fall flat on face and get really sick when I start to relax. Hope you're feeling better lovely x

    1. I am feeling almosttt 100% normal again so very thankful for that. I am the worst for not listening to my body - especially when it comes to sleep so my other new thing is also napping if I'm exhausted! x

  3. I agree! It's important to be healthy in both the mind and body or else we're never truly "centered" in life.

    1. Ahhh I'm glad you brought up being centered - that is exactly right! I think we're all on our quest to being more centered, and becoming more in tune with our bodies is a start :) x

  4. You are right sometimes we are so busy that you forget to eat healthy, exercise or even sleep and you don't realise how bad this is for your body.

  6. Hi darling, this is so true and I can truly relate to it, having been quite very ill two years ago. Without our health, everything else can fall apart. Great inspiration quotes. Thanks for your comment, I know you are also going to fall in love with Spain, I actually didn't go to the cities you will be visiting, so I am looking forward to hearing about them from you. I'd love to see Barcelona. I think Seville is very much worth a visit if you are able while you are there?

  8. I am so with you on this! I was just very ill since the middle of May. Came down with Lyme disease and honestly I've never been so ill in my entire life. I tried to fight through as hard as I could, continued to work, go to the beach, see friends, blog, etc but I had so many problems that I eventually had to give into it.

I just last Wednesday started to feel better and it's like a rebirth. I never ever want to feel that way again. I definitely take care of myself...eat well, etc but there was no avoiding this since it came from a tick bite. But here's to taking care of ourselves overall both mind and body. It can really make a difference.

Hope you're feeling all better by now! xoxo

    1. Oh you poor poor thing!! I had actually been wondering what it was having followed your blog and knowing you are quite sick! Lymes disease would be horrendous - thank goodness it got diagnosed and treated though and that you're finally getting some relief. I don't blame you for never wanting to feel that way again, I hope you never do either! Its the perfect time to start to all focus on our health more as we are getting busier and busier. I am feeling better thank god! :) xxx

  12. Awesome post today! I hope you are feeling better and definitely needed this reminder right now. I've got so much going on upstairs, that quieting my mind and making sure its getting the rest it needs is something I'm not being good about. Thanks for the reminder!

    1. You're welcome Cara - and yes quietening the mind is something I'm not good at but certainly am trying to get better through my yoga classes. I'm a long way off but I'm enjoying trying in the meantime :) x

  13. This is so true. Hope you are feeling better.
I just remembered when we went on our holiday how important relaxation is.
My skin and my whole body felt so good and healthy.
I realized how stressful my London lifestyle often is and how important our move to Sydney. I guess everyones health gets effected differently. I definitely need sun.

    1. Yes Liv exactly!! When I'm feeling relaxed my skin is great I sleep amazing and all seems right with the world - which is why it's good to try to be like that all the time (a mission I'm sure I'll try to achieve my whole life with no huge success haha). A move from London to Sydney would have been a huge decision! But one I'm sure you look back at thinking it was the best thing ever - I need some too :) x

  14. I've been trying really hard to ensure I have breakfast, it's the one meal I am constantly skipping. I'm finding though that because we're thinking about start a family, it's a bit easier to get myself to listen to my body and take better care of it :)

  15. Hi Anna, this post is so true. Thanks to my sickness I realized I didn´t take good care of my body and the stomach flu was its way to warn me and change things. I agree with every single thing you wrote. We have nothing if we aren´t healthy or well.

PS: Thank you for all your thoughts and good vibes you were sending to me past few days, I´m sure it helped me to feel better during my trip.
