That's all the days we have to cross off the calendar until we start our big European adventure. I don't think it's really sunk in yet just how big and exciting this actually is, and will be for us both. It is starting to though. It's not just the fact that we get to go and see some of this big beautiful world either. No. Or the fact we won't be working for 4 1/2 months, it's that I am going to be living a dream, that I'm getting to cross a huge goal of my list - & that excites me to my core. What is even more precious about the whole experience however is that I get to do this adventure with my best friend - Mr M. Sure we'll argue, get lost, find our way again, be let down by places - maybe - but we get to do it together. I have proclaimed since I was 16 that I would get to Europe no matter what, I wrote it down, I talked about it so the dream was shared and I took steps to make it happen and in 50 days, the dream becomes a reality. This little ole' blog will turn in to my travel book whilst exploring new places, food, wine, people, culture and ways of life and I'll be posting almost daily where we are at what we're learning. The following is our itinerary for the trip & some photos of the places we're booked at to stay.
Photo 1 - The view of the Eiffel Tower from our apartment in Paris, France.
Photo 2 - The view of the Amalfi Coast from our apartment in Positano, Italy.
Photo 3 - The house boat we're staying on in Berlin, Germany.
Photo 4 - The infinity pool we will be swimming in at our hotel in Santorini, Greece.

We're staying at the Atlantis so VERY excitd - and I'll keep you updated re. tour guide. We've already booked a desert safari and want to go to the big water world to :) Plus shopping. eeeeekkk

If I were going on a fantastic European adventure like this, I would totally be counting down the days as well. With all of the amazing places on your itinerary it probably wouldn't even be a bad thing to get a little lost ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Chanel exhibit was just lovely and I could've lingered for hours. Of course I was inclined to take home a few free prints :D

Oh my, Anna. I think you'll be exhausted jumping from one place to another for 4.5 months. Traveling from one place to another takes quite a bit of time. You actually lose an entire day. It's far better to use a place as a base and then do day trips. Cinque Terre is 1.5 hours from Florence. But you'll have to switch trains as well once you get to La Spezia. French trains are great but be extra vigilant when you get to Italy. Nothing is that straightforward there. Make sure you buy tickets beforehand and pick a seat. There's nothing worse than having to stand for an entire journey and dragging your suitcases as well.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, oh boy, oh boy. I can't wait to see the photos and hear about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteGosh, you are visiting so many exciting places - the memories you make will make you smile and laugh for a lifetime. Warning though, leaving will be hard. I cried nearly the entire day on our last day (after only 3 months) because I couldn't believe it was over (I find it hard to stick to that awesome saying "smile because it happened, don't cry because it's over"!)
ReplyDeleteps. ignore my other comment about hoping you post while you're away - am playing catchup due to busy week : )
